Black is Where it’s At: Simple Black Maxi Dresses

One of the main staples in my wardrobe is a simple black maxi dress or skirt. It can be suitable for most occasions, whether just popping to the shops or a business meeting, depending on how we dress it up (pun intended? No. Ok then.). Here are some nice ones I’ve come across on my cybertravels.

1.Maxi Dress with Low Back – La Redoute

Although I generally avoid jersey dresses and skirts, this one seems to fall in a loose way and it’s a nice simple choice so I’ve decided to include it.

2. Black Floral Lace Maxi Dress – Apricot

This one has some pretty lace work on the bodice area. It won’t be visible when wearing it outside, but you can break it out as a nice indoor dress too!

3. Halter Swing Maxi Dress – ASOS

I’ve already listed this one recently in my casual maxi dress post, but I think it deserves to be here too.

4. Izabel Black Sleeveless Maxi Dress – Dorothy Perkins

This one is more likely to be used for a rather formal context, but I would be happy to wear it for a casual dinner with friends too!

5. Linen Blend A-Line Dress – The White Company

Now, this one is definitely a bit pricier than the others on this list. I decided to show you it anyway as it’s made of a cotton-linen blend and has a nice high neck for maximum coverage.

Matching bonus: Stone Leather-Look Biker Jacket – New Look

If you do decide that you’re going for a bit of a casual look, you might like to have a peekĀ at this jacket. I’ll just leave it here.

By the way, it’s available in grey, dark green, and pink.

Modesty tip: Since this jacket is made to be quite fitted, I suggest taking that into account when you choose the size. Personally, I would probably wear it open most of the time.
